Who Can Enter
1. To be eligible to participate in this contest, entrants must be Ohio residents who are 18 years of age or older and employed as a teacher or school administrator at any public or private elementary school in the WSYX/WTTE viewing area.
2. Employees of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Media II, Inc., and any other company which owns, programs or provides other services to television broadcast station WSYX and WTTE (the “Station”) and McDonald's, their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, any and all local television broadcast and cable stations, local radio and other media companies, and the immediate family members of each are ineligible. The term “immediate families” includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren.
How to Enter
1. (a) No purchase is necessary to enter. Only one entry per school.
(b) To enter, visit the Lunchbox Weather page at abc6onyourside.com and myfox28columbus.com and fill out the online school nomination form with your name, phone number, school, address, teacher's name, grade, class size, and brief summary of weather science curriculum. No mechanically reproduced or completed entries will be accepted.
(c) The application process starts on Monday, September 1, 2008 and entries will be accepted until all available dates are secured. Station is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected mail or for printing errors, server unavailability, computer or any other electronic malfunction.
(d) Beginning Wednesday, September 24, 2007=8 and continuing each Wednesday of the 2008-2009 school year, one nominated school will be selected by Station personnel from among valid entries meeting the qualifications. The criteria for the selection will be based on classroom size, school location and the school's science curriculum. A total of thirty-two (32) schools will be selected to receive a Lunchbox Weather visit.
(e) All nominations received that are mutilated, tampered with, illegible, or from ineligible entrants will be void. All nominations become the property of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc. and the Station and will not be acknowledged or returned.
The Prize(s)
1. Each Wednesday, the selected school will receive a Lunchbox Weather visit from Jerry Martz, ABC 6 & FOX 28 Chief Meteorologist. Visits to classrooms of 75 students or less will include a lunchbox for each student in the classroom that includes coupon(s) to McDonald's restaurants, bottled water, snack and ABC 6 promotional items. Value of each lunchbox is $8.00.
2. (a) Schools will be notified by phone. Before participating in Lunchbox Weather, school teacher/administrator must provide their correct name, address, email address and telephone number to Station at the time of notification.
(b) School representative is required to provide signed parental consent forms for each child in the selected classroom to participate in the Lunchbox Weather visit. Consent forms must be provided to station personnel at the time of the scheduled visit. Consent forms are available for download at ColumbusNewsCenter.com.
(c) School representative must sign and return a release and affidavit of eligibility, which must be received within 5 days of notification. Winners must show picture identification to claim prizes. Station reserves the right to examine additional identification and may choose to accept or deny awarding the prize based on the identification presented.
3. If school does not timely return the affidavit of eligibility, the prize will be awarded to an alternate school.
4. There will be no substitutions or cash alternatives for prizes except at the sole discretion of Station. The Station has the right to substitute a prize of similar value. No transfer or assignment of prizes is allowed.
5. The winners are responsible for paying all local, county, state and federal taxes on prizes based on the estimated retail value of the prizes as set forth in these rules
6. Only one visit will be awarded per school.
7. Sinclair Media II, Inc., Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. are not liable if the provider of any part of the prize fails to satisfy its obligations to furnish its portion of the prize.
8. Sinclair Media II, Inc, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and McDonald's are not responsible for any liabilities arising directly or indirectly from the award or use of the prize.
9. In claiming your prize, you acknowledge that Sinclair Media II, Inc, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. have the right to publicize your name, character, likeness, photograph, voice and the fact that you are the winner for promotional purposes without financial remuneration.
Odds of Winning/Miscellaneous
1. Odds of being selected for a Lunchbox Weather visit depend on the number of entries received and the order in which telephone calls are received. Dates for visits are limited and filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
2. Complete contest rules are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours at ABC 6 & FOX 28 Studios, 1261 Dublin Road , Columbus , OH 43215 , and on the Station's website at ColumbusNewsCenter.com.
3. For a list of prize winners, send a separate, self-addressed, stamped envelope to “Lunchbox Weather” ABC 6 & FOX 28 Studios, 1261 Dublin Road , Columbus , OH 43215 by June 1, 2009 .
4. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc. Sinclair Media II, Inc., and McDonald's accept no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of any prize awarded hereunder.
5. Station cannot be held liable for any lost or stolen entries, prizes or contest information.
6. Station reserves the right to cancel or postpone a Lunchbox Weather visit in the case of breaking news or severe weather. Station reserves the right to make rules and contest changes and change the aforementioned contest dates.
